Why a Boot Carrier Sways

A boot carrier is held on by tension straps against the boot lid, tailgate and bumper, which means the whole assembly can pivot slightly around those contact points. On tar you rarely notice it. On corrugated gravel the vibration frequency starts to match the natural sway of the loaded carrier and the movement builds, working the main straps looser with every kilometre. Stabilising straps add a second, opposing anchor line that stops that oscillation before it starts.

Fitting and Checking
